Our Kyodoryori menu is “local” “natural” and “handmade” food.

Using Omihachiman’s traditional food, such as Akakonnyaku and Chojifu no Karashiae, we offer a special taste of feeling of the history and the nature of Omihachiman.  Especially, “pork kakuni” is very soft and juicy.  Please enjoy happy and special moment with our Kyodoryori. (Advanced reservation is necessary)

~ Omihachiman’s specialties ~

 

Aka means “red” in Japanese.  Konnyaku is jelly-like food made from the starch of konjack flour.

赤こんにゃく

Most people think that Konnyaku’s color is usually gray or brown.  However, in Omihachiman, konnyaku is red.  Akakonnyaku is eaten at each house as well as at school lunch.  You may think the reason of red color is red pepper, but this red came from a food additives, named 136. Iron Sesquioxide.  Akakonnyaku contains lots of dietary fiber as Konnyaku does, it contains lots of iron as well.  Try our local specialty.

 

Healthy food, Chojifu
After mixing salt and water very well and starchy material is removed as much as possible, there is good wheat protein left.  Chojifu is made from baked wheat protein.  Chojifu is additive-free food with rich vegetable protein.  It makes perfect combination with other foods such as vegetable, fish and meat.  Vegetable protein makes brain cells active and makes blood vessels strong.  Therefore, Chojifu is good for all generation from small children to elderly people, as well as for those who worry about geriatric diseases and those who concern his or her beauty and health.  It is used in nimono (boiled dishes), in aemono (vegetable with dressing), and in the dish cooked in one pot
